Who are you?
Simply, I am an advocate of artists and NFTs. Though I have had the benefit of practicing several disciplines of art over my life, I have never been a “full time artist.” I don’t normally refer to myself as an “artist” either. I grew up an entertainer, and that’s how I always consider myself. Today, I live on an island and just try to enjoy myself everyday.
When did you start making art?
I had two dreams growing up–professional athlete and artist. Genetics only allow for one of those to happen. I have been molding clay, making paint strokes, and shooting photos and video for as long as I can remember.
Talk a little about your project.
Late Night Movies began by almost accident. I was doing some generative, and then some collage pieces. My friend @lachlanplease and I agreed to do a collab, and people seemed to enjoy it. I decided to push the envelop a little more. You’ve got to remember, this was really early on in hicetnunc–maybe the first 3-4 weeks it was up and running. I decided to make a collage based on a snuff film. And from there, it’s really became about how I far can push things. I think that nudity, sex and porn are the perfect catalyst for pushing the limits because people react to it so differently. How many things can cause one person to be repulsed and offended, and another person to orgasm?

What’s your favorite Late Night Movie?
That’s hard to say. I go through stages where I like some things more than others. 105-107 are very distinct. 102 and 67 are the funniest, and they both include pizza. 2 and 115 are both really explicit but I hid it pretty well. I’d like to say my favorite one is the next one because that’s what I am going to be the most excited about. But, it’s probably 107 if I has to choose one. Which is cool because I asked the community for a topic and someone suggested “greed.”

What’s the process for creating a piece?
I don’t have a set process. I am a fan of bootstrapping and finding a way to it work regardless of what resources you have. I always wait a couple days before I mint anything. I have a rule that I have to feel differently about something after 24 hours–if I feel the same then it’s not controversial and I didn’t accomplish what I wanted.
Why did you join Hic Et Nunc?
I think it was a combination of the really early Discord channel and Mario Klingman telling me to use it to experiment. The early days were so wild. It felt like there were 12 of us using HEN. In a month, we became friends. We would all speak with each other every night for hours. It was fun and unlike any other site. I remember us waiting for Chris Randall’s new invader to drop, or seeing if MathMakesArt would break the site, or people like @1x1_NFT, FCCView, and NFTBiker to rewrite what could be accomplished. It was a weird group of people doing weird shit–but it was fucking cool.
What emotion do you hope to make the audience feel from your art?
I don’t try to control an audience emotion at all. It’s not that hard to make someone either laugh or cry. But, it’s a lot of work to make someone: uncomfortable, horny, and laugh at the same time. My favorite DM I ever received was from a woman who told me how gross and disgusting a piece was, and a week later asked me to make a private piece of her to give to her boyfriend. That’s a big fucking 180 to go from disgust in porn to asking to be the star.

Are there any artists we should keep an eye out for?
There’s new ones everyday. I’ll stick with my genre, and I’m certain to leave someone out so I apologize to them in advance: @lachlanplease @duanrayugnet @msoulart @kaanbilaloglu @kali_nft @danielaalves @thierrytillier @viktorwels @dredogue
Anything else?
I think just keep creating. I like pushing boundaries, and like seeing other push boundaries. I have a lot of ideas about what’s to come, especially in my genre. I’m excited to keep working with people, doing more collabs, and being part of the pioneering of something amazing.
