Who are you?
Gary Edward Blum.
When did you start making art?
Always drew as a kid. My moms side of the family were all very creative. But officially started making “Art” in high school.

What would you call your style?
I wouldn’t call it anything. Depends on if you’re asking about painting or photography, but minimalism is definitely a category I’m comfortable with…
What mediums and tools do you enjoy creating art with?
Painting and photography. I use acrylic and canvas, as well as iPhone and Leica cameras.
Tell us a little about some of your earliest hic et nunc mints?
I was excited about those early pieces because for the first time, I found a platform to show work that never really had a proper venue. I started with the Target House works because they felt the most complete at the time. Mixing photography and objects in a way that confronts the viewer to question what they are actually seeing.

What’s the story behind the “08 29 15” set of works?
Those are from “The Galapagos Series”, work that I had started while I was a resident at Headlands Center for the Arts. They essentially are the formal qualities of composition, balance and dependent opposition.
Why do you make art?
Cause I’m shitty at math.
How do you know when a work of art is finished and ready to be minted?
It just feels right. And I feel a sense of balance.

Can you tell us more about your objkt Genesis collection “20 GEB NFT 22”?
The pieces of colored paper I use, are actually all still-lifes I use in my paintings. I group them together to make a composition with spacing and colors that evoke a sense of beauty as well as a sense of being misplaced. Those elements mixed with a b/w photograph I took of the famous Pont des Arts makes for an interesting conversation between the two.
What adds value to your art?
Dedication.

What projects are you currently working on?
Many in the works, but just finished a piece for @fakewhale to put in their Vault collection, as well as some upcoming collabs and possibly some drops that will include physicals. IRL, I just finished a book/zine titled “WONDER, Volume 1” that will be available for purchase soon on my website.
